Accreditation of Providers

UTC Training Centre has practical involvement with SGB’s, SETA’s and ETQA’s and will assist individuals or companies in the accreditation process at the various SETA’s and Accreditation bodies. We conduct recognition of prior learning and assist the applicant in the compilation of policies and practices to acquire accreditation.

Skills Development Facilitation

UTC Training Centre assists companies and organizations in the compilation of a workplace skills plan, training implementation and training reports through the placement of a Skills Development Facilitator. This will provide a strategic basis to plan the development of staff and will ensure the reimbursement of levy funds to the employer.

Course / Workshop design

UTC Training Centre has a resource center that can design and develop courses according to international standards; UTC Training Centre can customize existing courses within the parameters of country specific regulations to suit the client’s needs and can also develop new courses.

Training & Development

A thorough needs assessment is done before training commences in order to determine the client’s specific requirements. Our approach is to assess the client’s training and development needs holistically, down to the job description, requirements and competency level of each individual. Individuals are grouped and scheduled for training based on skills gaps identified during workplace skills planning.

Quality Management 

UTC Training Centre’s training management system assures accurate certification, reporting and evaluation of all training. Pre-and post-training assessments are also conducted to ensure that the desired outcomes are achieved. Additional courses are continuously added based on customer requirements and market needs.

Heat Treatment Training Course

Using heat Manipulation Processes

For Level 1 Operators

This programme applies to persons within the Heat Treatment Industry. The credits allocated to this unit standard assume that a learner has already learned to identify engineering plate, pipe and structural steel materials and is able to set up oxy-fuel gas cutting and heating equipment.
  • Methods of Heat Transfer Per-Heating
  • Post-weld heat treatment
  • Temperature Measurement
  • Thermocouple attachment
  • Typical Thermocouple attachment procedure
  • Resistance heating
  • Pipework pre-heat
The duration of this programme is based on the minimum credits required to attain the Unit Standard (4 credits). Classroom time has been extended to assist in the preparation for the workplace experience: 4 days Theory and 1-day Assessment (Knowledge Questionnaire and Practical). Then the learners continue with workplace (3 days).
It is assumed that an FEC certificate, or equivalent, has been obtained by the candidate at level 4. (The Standard 10 / Grade 12 certificate meets these requirements).t laborum.
